SCENERY AND SPIRES IN ONE DAY!

Discover the beauty of the Cotswolds in two of the most beautiful villages in England, then spend the afternoon in Oxford, with a guided walking tour to see the stunning buildings of the world-famous university. An essential day trip from London, venturing into the English countryside and a historic city.

COTSWOLDS

In the morning, we take a drive through one of England’s most scenic areas, the Cotswolds, admiring the breathtaking scenery on the way. Enjoy views of the beautiful countryside and admire the charming villages along the drive while your guide tells you the stories of life in the villages. Due to its gorgeous scenery and traditional lifestyle, the Cotswolds are protected as an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Unlike many other tours, we stop in two of the beautiful villages. First is Burford, one of the most loved villages in England, known as the gateway to the Cotswolds. With picture-perfect buildings situated along a historic street, it is the perfect place for photos and a relaxing stroll. It is also home to the historic St John the Baptist church, over 500 years old and one of the top 10 most visited churches in the country.

Next, we continue to Bourton-On-The-Water, known as the Venice of the Cotswolds thanks to the beautiful River Windrush that runs through the centre of the village, crossed by five arched stone bridges. Find your perfect souvenir in the sweet little local shops, or enjoy a traditional cream tea in the many friendly cafes. You will enjoy at least an hour to explore the charming village and your guide will make sure you know where to find all the best spots!

Our guides are hand-picked for their knowledge and friendliness. On the tour through the Cotswolds, your guide will share history and folklore from the region with you, so you can enjoy interesting commentary as you travel through the gorgeous English countryside. All our groups agree that the Cotswolds is one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Oxford

Onward to Oxford, where we will give you at least 2.5 hours to enjoy the most famous university city in the world. The 36 colleges that make up Oxford University offer some of the most stunning architecture you will ever see. Oxford is known as the City of Dreaming Spires, and you will understand why as you admire these beautiful buildings.

Included in the price of your trip is an optional walking tour, led by your guide. This walking route will allow you to learn about the rich history of the city and see the best places of interest, including the Sheldonian Theatre, the Bridge of Sighs, the Bodleian Library, the Radcliffe Camera, St Mary’s Church, and the many impressive college buildings. If you wish to explore inside the colleges, your guide will recommend which ones to visit along the way. Oxford also has many famous fictional connections and your guide will tell you of the connection between Oxford and Narnia, Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter.

Oxford has much to offer besides the colleges. Consider visiting the amazing Ashmolean Museum which has unique art and archaeology with free entry, or the popular Covered Market, where there are many great places to eat or drink. There is something in Oxford for everyone to enjoy!

We depart Oxford at 4pm and make our way back to the starting point at Gloucester Road Station in London.
