Dover: White Cliffs and Photo Stops

From the hustle and bustle of inner London, we head down south-east into Kent, a bountiful area known as “the garden of England”. Enjoy the scenic views of the Kentish countryside as we make our way towards the coast. Your guide will tell you all about the history of the area and life in England during the drive.

The White Cliffs of Dover are undoubtedly the most famous cliffs in England and an important cultural landmark. They owe their bright white colour to layers of chalk built up over millions of years, then worn away by natural erosion. We ensure you have ample time for a walk along the cliffs, offering panoramic views of the English Channel. On a clear day, you can even see the outline of France in the distance!

To ensure you have mementos of your trip for years to come, we also make two photo stops at the most impressive sights Dover has to offer. One is at Dover Castle for a glimpse of the 900-year old clifftop fortress, and the other is on Dover Beach for a sea-level view of the White Cliffs and the bustling port of Dover. Canterbury: City and Cathedral

Next is the city of Canterbury, a charming mediaeval town with a vibrant history. We begin with a short walking tour, with your friendly guide showing you the sights of the city and explaining popular legends. Admire the cobbled streets and Tudor-style houses as you learn about the city’s rich culture, including the famous Canterbury Tales.

Towering above the rest of the city, Canterbury Cathedral is one of the most famous pilgrimage destinations for Christians in the world. The cathedral is a masterpiece of architecture and art, and is one of the UK’s most-visited historic sites. If you wish, you will have time to visit the Cathedral (entry not included).

You will have at least two hours to explore Canterbury, with time for lunch and sightseeing. Visit the Beaney House, stroll through Westgate Gardens, or find a souvenir in the local shops. Whether the architecture, the food or the canals, there is so much to enjoy in Canterbury.

We depart from Canterbury at 4pm and make our way back to London, dropping you back at the starting point near Blackfriars Station around 5:30pm. This tour lasts approximately 10 hours – a whole day of sightseeing and fun! Book your tour now to join us as soon as possible.

Please note: The tour involves a fair amount of walking. The White Cliffs paths consist of sloping, uneven stairs and small hills. Only experienced hikers should attempt the route to the beach. The walk into Canterbury city centre from the coach park takes about 15 minutes.
